Navigating Team Traps

Wednesday, April 11, 2018 - 12:00 to 12:30

Operational Excellence requires disciplined, cross-function collaboration - process teams with shared goals, customer focus, open dialog and rapid results. In today’s digital world, in which information knows no boundaries, collaboration is more important than ever.

In theory, teamwork should be easy. In real life it’s tough, like navigating a maze, avoiding one trap after another. The organization is in silos. Everyone represents a location, a product or a function - Sales, Operations, Finance, IT. Teams are virtual, making meaningful dialog difficult. In spite of best intentions, people fall into old arguments, sidestep difficult topics, and avoid making tough choices. Few know how to manage differences.

What should a team leader do? Anticipate team traps. Recognize the limitations of ‘virtual’. Reveal underlying causes. Develop new structures and skills. In this webinar we will address the following questions:

  • What are the barriers to collaboration on cross-functional teams?
  • How can team leaders anticipate, prepare for and deal with them?
  • How can team members recognize and manage differences?
